Purpose and Audience

Lung cancer is the leading cause of cancer death. Primary care providers and other health professionals can play an important role to ensure that recent improvements in prevention, early detection, treatment, and survivorship can reach all at-risk patients.

“Lung Cancer and the Primary Care Provider” educates health care professionals on ways to improve lung cancer care across the continuum.

The course was adapted from "Lung Cancer in Kentucky: Improving Patient Outcomes," which was created in 2015 by the Provider Education component of the Kentucky LEADS Collaborative. The course addresses lung cancer prevention through tobacco cessation, lung cancer screening with low-dose computed tomography (LDCT), shared decision-making, enhancing treatment through collaboration with specialists, and lung cancer survivorship after diagnosis.
